Research demonstrates that individuals and families are typically negatively impacted because of an illness. Healthcare costs such as deductibles, copayments, transportation and medications are typically not covered benefits. Family income can be reduced due to the lack of income from the patient (if previously employed) and/or other family members that must take time away from employment to provide care for the family members, resulting in insufficient income to meet the needs of the household.
The foundation provides financial support to individuals and families that apply and are approved by the Longleaf Foundation Board.
